Hotel Belmare: hotel on Elba Island » the area of Patresi

Patresi is a pleasant hamlet of the Municipality of Marciana, about 10 km away from it.

It is situated at the western tip of the Elba island, facing Corsica.

This portion of the coast holds still today an incredibly unimpaired landscape and the inlets are for the most part inaccessible. The dockings are few and appear to have been cut into the sea and the overhanging cliff.

Nature seems to be overwhelming in this area, with only a few houses scattered here and there. Man has to adapt to its laws, its silence and its vast open spaces, in which, on clear days, one has the impression to be able to touch the island of Capraia and the lighthouse of Patresi seems to be hanging in the midst of a blue canvas.

The beach of Patresi has a seabed which is very much appreciated by diving and snorkeling lovers. Dominated by the light house, with a crystalline sea, it is composed of big rocks, rough pebbles and a cement platform with a wharf. It is equipped with a bar, beach umbrella rental and a slide for haulage of small boats. The beach is reachable exiting the state highway and following the indication 'Patresi Mare' for about 1 km along a narrow street which flanks the ditch of Punta Polveraia.

On the right, reachable from a narrow path is the beach of Polveraia, a small inlet protected by the overhanging cliffs, of dark pebbles interposed by large white rocks.
